First Contact Physio
A First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) is a specialist physiotherapist who works within the GP practice and can assess, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal (MSK) problems such as back pain, joint pain, or injuries.
FCPs are often the most appropriate first person to see for these conditions, meaning you may not need to see a GP. They can provide expert advice, develop treatment plans, refer you for further investigations if needed, and support your recovery.
Seeing an FCP can help you get faster access to the right care and avoid unnecessary appointments.
First Contact Dietitian
A First Contact Dietitian is a specialist in nutrition who works within the GP practice to support patients with diet-related health conditions. This can include help with weight management, diabetes, digestive issues, food intolerances, and heart health.
They can assess your needs, provide personalised dietary advice, and help you make practical, sustainable changes to improve your health. In many cases, you can see a dietitian directly without needing to see a GP first.
Seeing a First Contact Dietitian can help you access expert advice sooner and take positive steps towards better health.
Paramedic Practitioner
A Paramedic Practitioner is an experienced paramedic who works within the GP practice, providing assessment and treatment for a range of urgent and same-day health concerns. This may include minor illnesses, infections, injuries, and home visit assessments.
They are trained to assess, diagnose, and manage many conditions, as well as provide advice, treatment, and referrals where needed. In many cases, you may be offered an appointment with a Paramedic Practitioner instead of a GP.
Seeing a Paramedic Practitioner can help you be seen more quickly and ensures you receive the right care from the most appropriate healthcare professional.
Medical Students
As a teaching practice, we are proud to support the training of future doctors. This means that from time to time, a medical student may be present during your consultation to observe and learn.
Medical students are supervised by experienced clinicians and follow strict confidentiality and professional standards at all times. Their involvement helps ensure the next generation of doctors are well trained and prepared to provide high-quality care.
Important: Your choice matters:
If you would prefer not to have a medical student present during your appointment, please let us know at any time. Your care will not be affected in any way, and your preference will be respected.
