Please make an appointment by visiting our Consulting Room.
We offer an advanced access appointment system that means you can be sure of getting an appointment with a doctor within 24 hours of your request.
Each appointment is for one patient with one medical problem only. Please make a separate appointment for each member of your family or if you have more than one medical problem. If you feel your condition is medically urgent you will be seen on the same day, although not always with the doctor of your choice and it may be necessary to wait.
Some of our Clinicians consult in consulting rooms on the first floor at Wilson Street. If you cannot manage to climb the stairs, please mention this to the receptionist when you book your appointment so that we can make arrangements for the consultation to take place in a downstairs consulting room.
If you have registered with us for access to online appointments, you can book a Doctor’s appointment through our online system up to 14 days in advance at either Wilson Street Surgery or Taddington Road surgery.
We also have online nurse appointments for Flu injections, blood pressure monitoring and smear taking. Please take care to use the booking system correctly for these matters. If you book an online appointment and require additional services (e.g. a double appointment, an Interpreter or a ‘downstairs’ room), please telephone the surgery and let us know as soon as possible so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Non Attendance / Lateness
If you are unable to attend your booked appointment, please let us know in advance so we can offer the appointment to someone else.
If you are late for your appointment, you may be asked to re-book another appointment or you may have to sit and wait until the end of surgery before you are able to be seen. Patients who arrive after you, but who are on time for their appointment, will be given precedence.
Patient Self Check-In screen
We have introduced a self check-in screen at both Wilson Street and Taddington Road Surgery to allow patients to let us know that they have arrived for their appointment. We hope this will alleviate the need for you to queue at reception simply to let us know you have arrived. We will make a member of the reception team available to show you how to use the screen, which is very simple to operate.
Wilson Street Surgery Appointment System
The surgery doors are opened at 07:30 to allow you to call in and make an appointment. We close at 18:30 Monday to Friday. Please note there are no routine doctors appointments on a Wednesday afternoon however, the surgery remains open for other clinics (nurse, minor surgery etc.) and for collection of repeat prescriptions.
Taddington Road Surgery Appointment System
Appointment lines are available:
- Monday 08:00 – 12:00 then 14:30 – 17:15
- Tuesday – Friday – 08:00 – 12:00
The doors are open from 08:00 until 12 noon. These times may vary slightly according to the doctor you are seeing. This is a branch surgery for the convenience of patients living in Chaddesden and Oakwood who wish to be seen in the mornings. If there are no appointments available, patients may be offered an appointment at Wilson Street.
Extended Hours Surgeries
We do have Extended Access Appointments at the HUB each weekday evening and Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, please visit our Extended Hours Appointments page.
On the day Appointments
On the Day appointments are available to book from 07:30 on the day by telephone or at the front desk. This is the time that all the on the day appointments for both morning and afternoon, are released. The earlier you ring, the more choice of appointment times you will have.
If you ring before 10:00 you will be offered an available routine morning or afternoon appointment. Once all the on the day appointments have been booked, you will be advised of this and you may be offered a pre-bookable appointment for another day or asked to ring back the following day.
If you have a medical emergency that means you need to be seen on the day, please inform the receptionist as there are some appointments specifically reserved for clinical emergencies. If however the doctor considers your problem is not a clinical emergency, then the doctor may ask you to re-book for another day/time.
